My Mood: | ok after reading most of the post id like to start by stating gastric/lapband/pacemaker are reversable, duendal switch is not. Surgery is and isnt easy. weightloss comes fast yet your constantly sick throwing up possibly dumping syndrom dehydradion nevermind possible depression. Then based on your weight start you may not have lost the amount of weight hoped for due to where your gi tract was cut. Now that weve got through that and youve dropped your 50-100lbs youve evened out your no longer losing fast your on solid foods heres your hard part either youve learned to eat proper or you havent so youll continue to lose or youll gain it back so in the end having the surgery has become no more easier then then losing the weight intially its just a tool to help. sometimes due to immobiliy health issues ect this is nes. This surgery doesnt solve your weight issue because your weight issue is mental, so this is why this surgery is not the easy way out. |

i wasn't making any of those assumptions. I was not judging anyone. I was simply stating that people should not be suggesting this surgery. i think this is a case of men are from mars and women are from venus. I see why no other men responded to this post. Again my opinion. |

My Mood: | After reading all of the posts, here's my 2 cents. It's up to the individual. There are a lot of studies, testimonials pro/anti surgery groups and information to educate yourself. I don't think anyone here is leading anyone here to the clinic to be prepped. Whether you hit the gym, do Jenny Craig/WW, surgery-there will be 2 questions that the individual can only answer to themselves-what are the factors that got you to this point, and will you be committed to make a change. Just saying. ![]() |

My Mood: | There's a 9 pg article on Oprah.com about Michael Hebranko....but I liked what he said about not having any of the weight loss surgeries. And it is along the lines of what I feel about maintaining the chemicals in the brain to take away that "thing'' that makes a person addictive. "Though Michael says he considered gastric bypass surgery, it ultimately wasn't for him. When he first started focusing on weight loss, he says he was too heavy to be a candidate for the surgery. While he applauds anyone who has succeeded with gastric bypass, Michael says it wouldn't solve his illness. "Unless they're ready to do a bypass in my brain, it's not going to work," he says. "I'm never hungry in my stomach; I'm never full in my stomach. I need the bypass [in my head], where I have the disease. That's where I fight the battle every day." This time around, Michael says he's learned not to have a specific weight loss goal. "My goal is to live," he says. "My goal is to do better every day, to be able to move a little bit more." |
