Cocktails Relationship Advice for Men (provided by women). Agree/Disagree with the advice?

Esquire magazine has a slightly humorous post where a few notable Hollywood actresses are providing "one-liners" to men on relationships. For example:

From Julia Louis-Dreyfus

"No, that is not our clitoris, but please — keep trying."

From Judy Greer

"We drink till you're cute, too."

Wanda Sykes

"The quickest way to a woman's heart is through her clit."

From Saira Mohan

"Pick the weirdest part of our body and compliment it. The left elbow, the forehead, shins. Just be creative."

And there are more...here are just a few below. (I provided the URLs at the very end for anyone who wants to peruse it further...for some reason the links aren't enabled, you'll have to cut and paste into your browser)

27 Things Men Don't Know About Women

Female celebrities offer relationship secrets and dating advice for the opposite gender. Now maybe they'll learn something.

"We want dessert. We want you to order dessert. What we don't want is for you to ask us if we want dessert."

Photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage.com Sanaa Lathan

"Men who wear sunglasses at night don't look cool, rich, or sexy. They look as if they should be holding a cane or following a dog."

Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage.com Christina Applegate

"Call us back right away. That 'three day' crap does not apply. We're getting older and we don't have time to screw around. Wait too long and we'll lose interest. Trust me on this one."

I love a man who is spontaneous!!

A man who watches me and learns everything about me, my likes and dislikes.

Keep me interested in you, because I will definitely do the same as long as the vibe between us is strong.

Yea, that 3 day waiting period is wack...besides, most of the time the guys be thirsty any damn way, they're just trying to play the role like they aren't.

Wanda Sykes

"The quickest way to a woman's heart is through her clit."

Same thing I thought, at first, when I saw her included among the celebrity women offerring advice, but then, when you think about it, I mean really think about it, who would know a woman's body better - she has double the knowledge - of her body and others? Right? LOL.

At any rate, follow up on the links, if you can...all of it is slightly more tongue-in-cheek, than not, but it may still prove useful - you never know what you might learn...even from Wanda Sykes...

I'm not sure if thats relationship advice or just funny things that guys should know about women. I think the best advice to give a guy about dating a woman is be honest, upfront and most importantly, be yourself. You waste everyones time pretending to be something that youre not so that when your real self comes out, the woman is often left wondering where the old you went. Same goes for women as well.

Well, the stuff about the clit isnt true. The quickest way to a woman's heart is to make her laugh. That works every time. I like the idea about picking a weird part of her body and complimenting it. I'm really self concious about my nose, so if a guy complimented it (sincerely) I would really take notice.

I really really REALLY agree about wearing sunglasses in a bar/club/anywhere indoors at night. The idea seems utterly ridiculous. How do you see? Rich (djtwiss) is the one and only man, in my 28 years of life, who I have ever seen pull this off.

I also agree about calling back right away. If I call you, and I havent heard back in 48 hours, I am going to assume you are not interested and move on. I might chase you around just a little, because I'm a leo and the diva in me is going to try and figure out why you dont want to talk to me, but it will annoy me and I will give up after a few days. In this day and age, we all have phones on us nearly all the time. Its too easy to call someone to NOT call them, you know?

I like what Joquer said about be upfront and honest, and just be yourself. Very good advice. I also like what Jayhawk said about returning phone calls right away. I agree, if the call doesn't come back within a day, then you're definitely not interested. But I can sum up my advice the following way:

Follow through with what you say you're going to do, and say what you mean, mean what you say!

here are a few of the others (keep in mind, they're tongue-in-cheek...as much for a little chuckle as for recognizing a grain or two of truth in them) enjoy -

"Everything sounds better when your mouth is next to our ear and you whisper it. Everything from 'Sorry about the smell' to 'I'm going to love you forever, m'lady.'"

"When considering whether or not to ask out the girl you're afraid to talk to, keep this in mind: No matter who you are or what you look like, it's always flattering when you hit on us. Always."

"We'd much rather try on bras than see them on surgically altered, airbrushed supermodels, but we know how much you enjoy the Victoria's Secret catalog. Consider it a gift."

"We need you to be reachable at all times, but we don't always pick up our phones when you call. We realize this seems like a double standard; if you'd like to discuss it further, just leave a message."

here was another quote in the extended version of the article - along the lines of what you said in your 1st paragraph above

Even More from Julia Louis-Dreyfus

"If you're funny, we will sleep with you."
