My Mood: | Hmmm Calvin, do you stay up all night thinking of these questions? LOL Religion in a relationship is as important as it is to the individual. If two people are involved of different religions, there needs to be an agreement in place as to what they want for their children. Many religions, do not recognize partners of another religion so the real question would be..."can love override religion?" |

| If children aren't involved than this should be pretty easy to overcome, however, some people whose faith is strong may want to SHARE their religion with their significant others as a means of bringing them closer and make the relationship more stronger. |

My Mood: | Awesome question.... Well, for me personally, I am an Atheist with a splash of Spirituality mixed in. I respect all religions and what people believe in; however, I expect the same in return. I don't feel religion is important in my relationships personally but it does come up as an issue sometimes. If believing in something, whether I believe in it or not, makes a person wake up everyday and be a great amazing person...then go for it. It is the preachy hypocritical people I would not date in the long run as there would be continuous conflict over something in my life I feel is trivial. I think all people or at least most want to find someone and be in a relationship with an individual whom accepts them for them and loves them unconditionally regardless of personal beliefs such as religion. We all know, it is easier said than done ![]() Have a great day! |

My Mood: | I'm Jewish and was married for 19 years to an irish catholic woman. A little challenging for our kids but worked OK overall. So, for me , especially now that my kids are older it means zilch, notta.... |

| I think this is a great question for the followers of this site to ponder because I feel as though sometimes there is too much focused on silly things, not judging cuz I sure am the WINNER!! ;) those of you watching the threads will get that one!!, rather than the important part of this site, relationships. A relationship is the bond between two things. This can be a man and woman or woman and woman (friends or lovers) as well as man and man (friends or lovers) This can also be the relationship between a person and their pet. The great factor in all of this is the love that we have for that bond. The time and effort we put forward to show that love and carry that love with us daily. Now with all that said I am a born again Christian, I am actually practicing and consider myself to be a faithful person who does try to actively live a moral life. I am not nor will I ever want to be perfect because God loves my flaws! When I enter into a relationship I do consider religion to be a very important factor, not only when considering a partner but with friendships. 2 Corinthians 6:14 (New International Version) Do Not Be Yoked With Unbelievers 14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? When you have faith and follow that faith it is important to make sure that you are not putting yourself in situations that would question your character. I will also say that I would never judge or dismiss a person simply on their faith some of my best friends are non believers and I love them anyway because that is what I am suppose to do. If it came to marriage, no I would not be able to personally be able to set aside that they were not willing to share the passion I have for Christ and His word. This is of course MY personal opinion and Im glad that we have a thread that is making us all ponder and welcome the opinions of others!! Have a blessed day everyone! ![]() |

My Mood: | You TOTALLY intrigue me...... your threads are great !!!! for ME.... i dont think it would be a deal breaker.... personally, i have my OWN faith....(align myself mostly as a Pagan) i believe in a higher power, but, i do not belong to, or believe in 'organized religion' - (and no, disorganized religion is not my thing either ) but, I do know there are some guys out there that would not date me because of my 'free-spirit' views.... as long as you dont try and 'change' my views, or 'convert' me.... it honestly doesnt matter what you believe, as long as you have conviction in what it is that you believe. I love having political and religious 'debates' !!! |
