Unhappy Re: Michael Vick, Should he be allowed to play in the NFL?

It both sickens and saddens me how people will go to the ends of the earth to defend an animal but barely give a damn about a child. Michael Vick was convicted and served his time. He should not have to spend the rest of his life in jail or poverty because of what happened. Was he wrong? HELL YEAH!! He deserved everything that happened to him. However, there are people walking the street who have committed far more heinous crimes.

Some of you may remember Lisa Steinberg. She was 6 yrs old, all of which had been filled with abuse from her adopted father Joel. In 1987 he beat her unconscious and left her to die slowly, over 12 hours, on the bathroom floor. All of this while he had dinner and smoked crack. He served about 16 or so years in jail and now is out enjoying life. There was not nearly the outcry against his release as their has been toward Michael Vick.

I believe that there is a special hell for child abusers and animal abusers, I defend both but we're talking about Vick here. If this thread was about children, I'd be speaking out about that too....just because I think Vick got off easy, doesn't mean I don't defend children also.

People can plead and grieve for the dogs but wish death on a human being? Am I the only person that finds this logic and reasoning skewed?

Well I see we are on the same page, at least I didn't do some Jesse Jackson shit and compare Vick to Jackie Robinson. He did his time so let him sit his 5 games out and see where he goes from there. He'll have the rest of his life to fight this crime or knowing our world today he wins a super bowl. The plus for the nay sayers is he has to travel, so even if Philly keeps it hush on the remarks everywhere else isn't going to.

Bite Me Denise I never called your name or said anything about what you, Denise, or any other poster said directly. I was making an ANALOGY...as in a resemblance in some particulars between things otherwise not alike. Everyone says whatever they want in their post...why do I have to adhere to a higher standard? If you or anyone else in The Ample Beauties community has an issue with me and/or my post...send me a private message ...SEE ME

and I swear I don't mean that bitchy....

I thought we were having an intelligent discussion and all of a sudden, you're telling me to bite you...lol. I'm trying to keep this civil....

Yes Denise I do think you were "calling me out"and please do not feel the need to be civil on my account. That's why I said send me a private message. Per your last post:

Clearly this was directed at me and my post...hence my response. Your need to remind me to stay on topic was not necessary. Again, I was making an analogy. This prompted the following response:

I did not realize the "thread police" were on the job. As to your comment on intelligent discussion. Yet again, this was a dig at me. Part of "intelligence" is good judgment which your responses are lacking. Again...if you or Bella or anyone else has an issue with me or my post get at me privately. Your sideways comments and insinuations are not appreciated.

WOW, need a napkin to wipe that off the screen? You must be the type who gets hard ons from hearing shit like that? Look I think other than the personal tiff that was popping the comments were right on the money. But the cheering of fans dumping their season tickets is stupid. Who’s not going to jump on getting those tickets in todays NFL and economy? They did nothing but help someone who may not have been able to afford them in the first place get them. As far as taking such extreme, I think we are way too picky on who we pull that kind of dumb shit on. Now not to go “Left field” but if we take that same approach on all fucked up people who have taken lives dogs or humans, we’d really have nothing in this country. Will those same people give back jewelry with diamonds in them since we know large portions of diamonds are blood diamonds? Stop buying products from companies we know fuck their employees over to save money which in turn have caused someone somewhere to lose their life be it that ex employee or a family member? I mean we can take that bullshit logic and apply to the real world and end up with nothing. I think that’s stupid and the NFL should then make it a priority to not ever give them season tickets again. Again I think we should give anyone who faces their mistakes head on and is willing to change a second chance, and from what I notice Vick is doing that. Again he wasn't the man actually doing the killings, are those against Vick willing to go to VA and tell the guys who DID do all the horrible things to the dogs their feelings? Go and get them fired from their jobs protest whom ever they work for, Wal-Mart, some telemarketing or phone or cable company? No, it was easy to get Vick because of fame and it’s easy to point him out now for that same fame. You want to take such extremes do some homework and find local dog fighters and give them the same hell, if not leave Vick the fuck alone… Not defending him just oppose such stupid thinking on the season holders part and homie who seem like he bust one getting that info out.

I am a huge football fan and Im also very familiar with a region of the country where fighting animals (dogs in particular) is an accepted practice. That being said Mike Vick did his time and I dont know anyone that hasnt needed or deserved a second chance.
No matter how you feel about dogs/pitbulls was he did was disgusting and because of his celebrity he was made an example of and probably should have been. That phase is over and its time to move forward. I dont think anyone will forget what he did whether directly or indirectly, but some things are just going to almost always be true in our society:
Athletes/celebrities will always be treated differently (too soft or too harsh)
As long as an athlete can excel in his sport and generate money he/she will always get a sesond, third and forth chance.
